Added testimonial from Travis McCoy

Here’s another feedback today. I received his appreciation message after sending a new update

Thanks for the update, the program works fantastically with my hi fi headphone setup.

I received messages from headphone users more often recently. I hope we’ll have more headphone users using Fidelizer soon. 🙂

Unlocking native app performance by disabling UAC completely

Whenever you try to run a new application in Windows, the system will check user’s permission rights to before performing any operation. Whenever program tries to read or write something, it’ll check with current user account first and tell you whether it’s possible or not. This is an unexpected drawback of application performance, especially in audio applications.

To avoid this user account control thing, Fidelizer will request for Administrator rights so program can run and execute any command without these permission filters gaining native performance back again. But you can do that to the whole operating system by following the instructions below.

1. Open regedit, select Yes if you’re requested run with Administrator rights
2. Navigate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System”
3. Change the value of “ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin” and “EnableLUA” to 0
4. Reboot and your system will get native app performance back

Warning: This will allow malicious software to be executed without getting request to run with Administrator rights. Applying Fidelizer Extremist optimization level in this mode will also stop/disable security services too. So, please use it at your own risks.

Added testimonial from Bill Erb

Here’s a new feedback today. This time it’s from Fidelizer Plus using with headphone system.

Thank you. Installed and did the recommended foobar2000 settings. It sounds incredible !!! Such a big sound with SQ enhancements everywhere. Closest thing to “being there” that I’ve ever heard on headphones. I run Beyerdynamic T1 headphones with a Woo Audio WA2 amp and a Schiit Audio Bifrost Multibit DAC. My little system has never sounded nearly this REAL.

Regards,
Bill Erb

Beyerdynamic T1 is also my favourite too. That’s no little system from what I can see. 🙂

Here’s another feedback today. His full feedback is really long this time. It’s more like a review so I’ll copy the parts only related to Fidelizer here.

Hi Windows X,

This is some brilliant stuff! Music seems to come from a darker background, with a more realistic tonality. Bass lines have improved significantly, each drum beat is tight and precise, overall bass is much more punchy and energetic. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting this improvement. I’m only using the Audiophile setting, on a 64 bit Windows 7 Pro, have not really had the inkling to try Windows 10 or Server 2012. Would the upgrade is OS really benefit the sound quality with compromising on performance (movies/streaming/light gaming)?

Your advise is greatly appreciated and once again, thank you for such an amazing program in the Fidelizer Pro.

Sincerely,
Ben

Upgrading to Windows 10 is highly recommended. You can see my Windows 10 report for my impressions.

What’s inside the Network Player?

Interior of Teac NT503

Since yesterday’s question in Facebook about USB and Ethernet audio, I found some people are interested in learning about how Network Player works inside. I’m going to use most recent yet affordable product Teac NT503 as a model to explain. Top left is Ethernet board and top middle is USB board.

As you can see, this network board is very big, much bigger than USB board. It has a lot of chips like CPU and controllers inside.  Yes, the network board is actually a mini PC board that receives data from network and sends from built-in audio interface to digital receiver board.

If you connect DLNA Renderer PC to USB DAC and stream music from your phone, it will work exactly like that network board but use large board USB audio interface instead of tiny chip in network board. So building a dedicated computer transport outside should have more room for improvements.
