Nimitra Computer Audio Server and Nikola Linear Power Supply receives Positive Feedback Writers’ Choice 2017 Awards

Positive Feedback Writers' Choice Award 2017 for Fidelizer Nimitra Computer Audio Server and Nikola Linear Power Supply

This is our fifth award received in this year for Nimitra Computer Audio Server and also the second award for Nikola Linear Power Supply. It’s probably the last award Fidelizer might receive in this year but not least at all from non-profit media like Positive Feedback.

Nimitra and Nikola was nominated by Mr. Larry Cox who also nominated Fidelizer last year. It was around time I announced Nimitra, a turnkey solution that everyone can use with Teamviewer support and best Fidelizer optimizations. Here’s excerpt about Nimitra and Nikola he wrote.

As close to a plug and play computer audio server as you’re likely to find. Ease of setup is aided by a thirty day assist from Keetakawee Punpeng from Thailand using the remote access software Teamviewer. The selling point is that with Linn Kazoo or Mconnect Lite you have remote control of your files through the Nimitra. The sound is difficult to describe except to say it’s quieter, more linear and both less etched and less bloomy. Although others did not hear a difference with the accessory Nikola linear power supply I and my wife found the Nikola to add a bit of emotional content, in particular I believe the lower midrange is a bit sweeter, perhaps more relaxed when playing HQPlayer transcoded files. My wife literally cried hearing Eva Cassidy singing Fields of Gold.

This year is full of surprises and challenges for my audiophile journey. Big thanks to Mr. Larry Cox for his support. I’m really appreciated it. You can read full article about Positive Feedback Writers’ Choice 2017 Awards and see other cool products too.

And don’t forget to check his Nimitra and Nikola review featuring HQPlayer software with DSD upsampling too. 🙂

Nimitra Computer Audio Server and Nikola Linear Power Supply review on Positive Feedback by Larry Cox

Fidelizer received Positive Feedback Writers’ Choice 2016 Award by Mr. Larry Cox’s nomination last year. After launching Nimitra Computer Audio Server, I contacted Mr. Larry Cox asking if he’s interested in reviewing Nimitra.

He told me he wasn’t sure if he can review it since computer audio isn’t something he’s familiar with and he’s using DSD only DAC which could be tricky to setup with Nimitra. With Teamviewer remote support, he can leave configuration parts to me.

He also reviewed Nikola linear power supply together with Nimitra too. It doesn’t have WOW effect being so neutral so it may take a while to shine in some systems. I’m glad to hear Nikola grew wonderfully in this review with Nimitra.

Nimitra Computer Audio Server

Keetakawee Punpeng of Fidelizer has put together a fine machine. The Nimitra is transparent in the ways that are good—letting the signal through seemingly unmolested, without being transparent in ways that are not good—lean, bleached or neutered. I think Punpeng has largely achieved his goal of a turnkey operation. Keetakawee provides the service you’re likely to need, does it quickly and so deftly removed most of my concerns about buying a computer from someone in another country.

Nikola Linear Power Supply

In the interest of being thorough rather than hopeful, I reinserted the Nikola linear power supply. Ohhhhh, wow, this time the Nikola was a welcome and noticeable addition. The most obvious changes were in the lower midrange, imparting a welcome bit of warmth and emotional content. There were more musical interludes that occurred as beautiful. This was clearly better than previous iterations. Keep in mind that this review, as with probably every other review, accentuates differences to make a point. The sound was very nice without the Nikola, but the Nikola added a dollop of more that was desirable. And yet, there was room for more.

I’d like to thank Mr. Larry Cox again for nominating Fidelizer for Writers’ Choice Award and kindly review Nimitra and Nikola again. I hope this will help audiophiles realize computer audio can have good sound and after sale services like Nimitra. 🙂

Fidelizer Purist ROM featured in Positive Feedback’s Fiio X5iii review by Tom Gibbs

Last month, I talked to Mr. Tom Gibbs about his new home and listening environment. He mentioned about reviewing Fiio X5iii so I sent him my Purist ROM that I was working on at that time for him to try hoping he’ll enjoy the music while preparing a new room.

Today he sent me his finished review about X5iii and he also talked about how Fidelizer came to the rescue as below.

Fidelizer to the rescue!!

I let the X5 burn in for a while by playing on repeat for a couple of days before doing any serious listening; I honestly believe the sound quality of both the X5 and the accompanying F5 headphones improved significantly with about 50-100 hours of play time. I also did a couple of firmware updates to the system; at this point, I started to feel as though something had gone quite wrong with the overall sound quality of the system. In an email exchange with Keetakawee Punpeng of Fidelizer, we were talking about how things were going for me in my new home and new listening environment, and I happened to mention that I had the X5 Gen III in house and under review. He immediately emailed me a link to a firmware modification he developed in cooperation with Fiio; apparently, many had complained about the sound quality of the F5 after performing updates. He started checking all this out, and found that an earlier iteration of the F5 Gen III sounded significantly better prior to all the updates. He then developed an installer program with his contacts at Fiio that would update the operational aspects of the upgrade, but would also roll the pertinent aspects of the sound quality back to the best iteration.

The install was just a tad tricky (not unlike most anything with any of the DAPs I’ve had recent experience with), but I have to admit: the great sound was once again back! Now, when the X5 opens for the first time, a Fidelizer splash screen appears prior to the usual Android stuff. What a really strange coincidence, how this all worked out, and my hat is off to Keetakawee and Fidelizer for helping fix what should have never been monkeyed with in the first place! He also tells me that he can make additional modifications to the X5 Gen III that will lift it into the same level of performance as some AK units; you can get more information about those services HERE.

It’s great to know how $399.95 DAP packed with all kinds of features can do from a professional reviewer. You can read his full review to see how it truly is the best bang of the buck especially with Fidelizer ROM.

Fiio X5iii is the DAP with most potentials for improvements in my opinion. As I already explained in Portable Products section, Fiio X5iii Ultimate mod version costs only $899.95 with very close performance to flagship devices out there. 🙂

Fidelizer in Sonore microRendu review from Positive Feedback

Today I noticed Mr. Tom Gibbs has launched his The Sonore microRendu and Signature Series Linear Power Supply review today while doing daily search for Fidelizer. His review is straight forward and thoroughly tested all the features as usual.

I believe microRendu is the most famous audio endpoint device in computer audiophile industry. I couldn’t help feeling honored to see Fidelizer being mentioned in this review again and again along with JPLAY. I’m happy to know he’s stilling using Fidelizer Pro.

The price of microRendu with Signature Series Linear Power Supply is $2039 USD. That’s even more expensive than Nimitra Computer Audio Server and Nikola Linear Power Supply combo. If $2,000 sounds costly, you may consider Fidelizer Pro together with JPLAY at $200 for remarkable performance. 🙂

Fidelizer receives Positive Feedback Writers’ Choice 2016 Award

Positive Feedback Writers' Choice Award 2016 for Fidelizer

Last week I was informed that Fidelizer will receive Positive Feedback Writers’ Choice Award 2016 by Larry Cox. Yesterday I received the image for public announcement so I’m posting it here today. You can read the definition of this award below.

The following is an opportunity for our editors and writers to recognize superior merit in the audio arts though their “Writers’ Choice Awards”. Our writers and reviewers have been given broad leeway to cite excellence in fine audio wherever they find it: products, people, recordings, events, groups, etc., so that our readers can be better informed.

It is our hope that you will find the PF Writers’ Choice Awards to be helpful to you in your audio journey.

All the best,

Positive Feedback

Larry Cox didn’t review Fidelizer Pro but he nominated Fidelizer for this award out of his own interests as an audiophile. He also ended the message with “thank you for making Fidelizer” and that was very encouraging.

Please don’t forget to read the Fidelizer Pro review by Tom Gibbs too. The award is big news but good review is also important too 🙂
