Nimitra Computer Audio Server and Nikola Linear Power Supply review on Positive Feedback by Larry Cox

Fidelizer received Positive Feedback Writers’ Choice 2016 Award by Mr. Larry Cox’s nomination last year. After launching Nimitra Computer Audio Server, I contacted Mr. Larry Cox asking if he’s interested in reviewing Nimitra.

He told me he wasn’t sure if he can review it since computer audio isn’t something he’s familiar with and he’s using DSD only DAC which could be tricky to setup with Nimitra. With Teamviewer remote support, he can leave configuration parts to me.

He also reviewed Nikola linear power supply together with Nimitra too. It doesn’t have WOW effect being so neutral so it may take a while to shine in some systems. I’m glad to hear Nikola grew wonderfully in this review with Nimitra.

Nimitra Computer Audio Server

Keetakawee Punpeng of Fidelizer has put together a fine machine. The Nimitra is transparent in the ways that are good—letting the signal through seemingly unmolested, without being transparent in ways that are not good—lean, bleached or neutered. I think Punpeng has largely achieved his goal of a turnkey operation. Keetakawee provides the service you’re likely to need, does it quickly and so deftly removed most of my concerns about buying a computer from someone in another country.

Nikola Linear Power Supply

In the interest of being thorough rather than hopeful, I reinserted the Nikola linear power supply. Ohhhhh, wow, this time the Nikola was a welcome and noticeable addition. The most obvious changes were in the lower midrange, imparting a welcome bit of warmth and emotional content. There were more musical interludes that occurred as beautiful. This was clearly better than previous iterations. Keep in mind that this review, as with probably every other review, accentuates differences to make a point. The sound was very nice without the Nikola, but the Nikola added a dollop of more that was desirable. And yet, there was room for more.

I’d like to thank Mr. Larry Cox again for nominating Fidelizer for Writers’ Choice Award and kindly review Nimitra and Nikola again. I hope this will help audiophiles realize computer audio can have good sound and after sale services like Nimitra. 🙂

Added Nimitra feedback from Seth Shapiro

Here’s another consecutive feedback today from Fidelizer Nimitra customer in United States. He upgraded from his laptop with Fidelizer Pro to Nimitra server recently.

The Nimitra sounds incredible, even on my humble setup. I know it’s a cliche, but I’m hearing things I never heard before. Instrument separation is orders of magnitude better than with my laptop. Vocals that were muddy are now crystal clear. Listening is soooo engaging. I can’t wait for Asset to finish to I can listen to more goodies.

Very nicely done, and highly recommended.

Glad to hear Nimitra server sounds crystal clear with so engaging performance from laptop with Fidelizer Pro. 🙂

Added Nimitra+Nikola feedback from Geoff

Here’s a new feedback today from Fidelizer Nimitra+Nikola customer in United Kingdom. He shared his impressions with his Linn Sondek turntable.

Keetakawee,

I have been using my Nimitra server and Nikola PSU for about a week now. Initial impression is that I do not appear to be missing anything with the sound.

The sound is similar to that which I get with my Linn Sondek turntable with good musicality and timing.

Out of interest, I run Fidelizer 7.9 software on my JPLAY Control PC which definitely improves clarity of playback in my system.

I listened to digital playback via my Nimitra server for about six hours last Saturday and no listener fatigue.

So this is the first time that I have actually enjoyed listening to CD and Hi-Res file playback with my system!

I would like to stay in touch with you for any future product or software developments you may have.

Regards,
Geoff

I’m glad to hear Nimitra+Nikola can deliver similar performance to Linn Sondek turntable without fatigue. 🙂

Added Nimitra+Nikola feedback from Daniel Gale

Here’s another feedback today from Fidelizer Nimitra+Nikola customer in USA. He also purchased my custom USB and power cables too.

Keetakawee,
Spent last night immersing myself in Roon. Sounds wonderful and is so intuitive to use. Thank you so much for your incredible service. Amazing how you can service customers half-way around the world instantaneously. I am very impressed with your product and service.

I’m happy to provide prompt services for Nimitra computer audio server around the world for best experience. 🙂

Nimitra Computer Audio Server receives Stereophile’s Class B Recommended Components Fall 2017

Stereophile's Recommended Components: Fall 2017 Edition

Do you still remember the great excitement I shared here in July? Nimitra was reviewed by Stereophile in July and I thought that’d be the biggest achievement of the year. And today I’d like to share joyous event that Nimitra is now included in Stereophile’s Class B Recommended Components!

Nimitra is the first hardware product from Fidelizer, introduced in 2016 without so much of marketing. I told myself that some days Fidelizer products will be included in Stereophile’s Recommended Components but I never imagine to have Stereophile’s Class B product in first year.

I’m very thankful to Mr. Kal Rubinson who contacted me for reviewing Nimitra as multi-channel server in Stereophile right after seeing Mr. Steven Plaskin’s review in AudioStream. I’m so fortunate to receive so much support from passionate reviewers for all blessings I received in this year.

Fidelizer Nimitra Server: $1395
A fanless implementation of an Intel Celeron J1900 2GHz processor, the Nimitra is the first server from Thailand-based Fidelizer, who specialize in using Windows as a music-playback platform. Measuring only 8.9″ by 7.9″ by 1.7″ and supplied with an outboard power supply (a 12V brick; Fidelizer’s larger and reportedly better Nikola supply is a $495 option), the Nimitra is bundled with dBPoweramp’s Asset UPnP file access and the JPlay app for streaming output—and is, as KR reported, multichannel-compatible. Kal used the Fidelizer Nimitra with his miniDSP uDAC-8 multichannel processor—”setup was almost trivial,” he said—and found the combination “absolutely delightful,” and “easily the equal of” his Mac mini–based server: “Finally, a great-sounding and affordable multichannel server that works with USB or with HDMI!” (Vol.40 No.7 WWW)

I wish I could have provided better support during Nimitra review with exaSound e38. I’ve published testimonial from Nimitra customer using exaSound e38 for multi-channel audio. Thanks to experience I gained during review, I could support real customer better. 🙂
