Nimitra Computer Audio Server and Nikola Linear Power Supply review on Positive Feedback by Larry Cox

Fidelizer received Positive Feedback Writers’ Choice 2016 Award by Mr. Larry Cox’s nomination last year. After launching Nimitra Computer Audio Server, I contacted Mr. Larry Cox asking if he’s interested in reviewing Nimitra.

He told me he wasn’t sure if he can review it since computer audio isn’t something he’s familiar with and he’s using DSD only DAC which could be tricky to setup with Nimitra. With Teamviewer remote support, he can leave configuration parts to me.

He also reviewed Nikola linear power supply together with Nimitra too. It doesn’t have WOW effect being so neutral so it may take a while to shine in some systems. I’m glad to hear Nikola grew wonderfully in this review with Nimitra.

Nimitra Computer Audio Server

Keetakawee Punpeng of Fidelizer has put together a fine machine. The Nimitra is transparent in the ways that are good—letting the signal through seemingly unmolested, without being transparent in ways that are not good—lean, bleached or neutered. I think Punpeng has largely achieved his goal of a turnkey operation. Keetakawee provides the service you’re likely to need, does it quickly and so deftly removed most of my concerns about buying a computer from someone in another country.

Nikola Linear Power Supply

In the interest of being thorough rather than hopeful, I reinserted the Nikola linear power supply. Ohhhhh, wow, this time the Nikola was a welcome and noticeable addition. The most obvious changes were in the lower midrange, imparting a welcome bit of warmth and emotional content. There were more musical interludes that occurred as beautiful. This was clearly better than previous iterations. Keep in mind that this review, as with probably every other review, accentuates differences to make a point. The sound was very nice without the Nikola, but the Nikola added a dollop of more that was desirable. And yet, there was room for more.

I’d like to thank Mr. Larry Cox again for nominating Fidelizer for Writers’ Choice Award and kindly review Nimitra and Nikola again. I hope this will help audiophiles realize computer audio can have good sound and after sale services like Nimitra. 🙂

Nikola Linear Power Supply receives AudioStream’s Greatest Bits Award

Today AudioStream has published a review for Nikola Linear Power Supply for a few days now. I’m very proud to inform you guys how Nikola performs  along with other linear power supplies and products.

Linear power supply business is all about power house unit to power all kinds of devices for a long while. I aimed to build Nikola linear power supply as a game changer product from ‘jack of all trades’ to ‘master of one’ design. It’s time to move on inferior design that does all for better sound.

Nikola was reviewed thoroughly with a few devices as it was designed to work with all kinds of unit supporting power supply upgrade. It’s hard to pick which one so I’ll pick on the most beneficial part for you to read below.

Since I was reviewing the SOtM sMS-200 Mini Network Player at the same time I was evaluating the Nikola, I decided to try this combination given that the 12 volt output was within spec for use with the sMS-200. After extended listening with the SOtM sMS-200 / Nikola, I felt that many of the sMS-200 owners will love this combination. The overall sound was smooth, detailed, and free of hardness. The bass and mid bass were extremely well controlled with good dynamic qualities. The soundstage was quite large with good depth and width. The overall transient speed and pitch definition were very impressive. Voices and instruments were very well focused and had a life-like presence with wonderful transparency to the sound. And yes, background silence was perceived as being excellent.

You can read full Fidelizer Nikola Linear Power Supply review about Nikola in other aspects like how it performs comparing to other products, how it works with Nimitra and its unique charm of very low noise colorization without ever displaying a digital edge.

At first I started designing Nikola as power supply for Nimitra but I later realized that I should build good power supply upgrade for product that needs it. I don’t mind if you want to use Nikola with Brooklyn/e32 DAC, SMS-200, or LPS-1 as long as I can help your music enjoyment. 🙂

Updates on Nimitra and Nikola product information and ordering

BAV2017 Nimitra 2

After launching Nikola Linear Power Supply, we’ve been shipping Nimitra Computer Audio Server and Nikola for every week. Thank you so much for supporting us and I’ve been shipping every unit we can without delay so far.

After getting inquiries and orders for a while, I noticed some people often asked me about comparing Nimitra to other highend servers. I decided to change some context in reviews so they can see for themselves.

“A friend from Asia, with an impressive high-end audio setup, didn’t miss his Aurender W20 anymore since acquiring Fidelizer’s Nimitra; he actually sold it. At ten times the price difference, it surely opens up a Pandora’s Box.”

– Matej Isak, Mono and Stereo

“I’d take the Nimitra over the SOtM 1000D I reviewed a couple years ago in a heartbeat. It’s cheaper, more user friendly, more flexible and if aural memory serves, sounds just as good if not better.”

Paul Candy, 6moons

You can also read what customers say about Nimitra to see how it performs on their systems.  Some also mentioned about highend servers too.

As for Nikola power supply, some people requested me to build 15V and 19V ones so I decided to add 15V and 19V support. I also added micro USB 2.0 connector output option to use Nikola as highend mobile charger.

Since Nikola will have transformer built for optimal voltage range, we will order transformer with specific output voltage. We don’t use the same transformer we built for 12V or 5V to get the ideal output.

Thank you for supporting Nikola Linear Power Supply with 13 units sold in first week.

Nikola - Main

I’m at loss of words to express how happy I am to see our first launched product being appreciated this much. After the first week of launching Nikola Linear Power Supply, we sold 13 units in first week! That’s even more than all the stocks we have ever prepared.

Well, I only came up with the name Nikola and inform Mr. Steven Plaskin a week before launching product. Nikola was launched on 26th February and I sent the name on 19th February. Yes, that’s one week. That sounds like I did terrible on marketing jobs now.

Before launching Nikola, I was always anxious because the most expensive DC power supply they sell in Thailand is less than $200 dollars. I once asked them to build better products but it’s already decided that over $300 is a failing business in Thailand.

So it’s a very challenging to build $500 PSU in such environment. Sometimes I couldn’t help myself with the thoughts like “What if no one buys Nikola at all?” or “What if they find Nikola doesn’t sound that good?”. Reading exaSound e32 DAC review eased my worries a lot.

After the first week of Nikola product launch, we received 13 orders from Canada, Japan, Thailand, USA, United Kingdom, Taiwan, and Norway. We also received 5 orders for Nimitra Computer Audio Server as if they’re waiting for matching linear power supply to be available.

I’d like to tell you guys I’m very grateful to your support. It really means a lot to me. I don’t want to make it sounds dramatic but I used to think it’s impossible for me to build my own audio products in Thailand. And here I am building stuff for everyone in the world.

To express my gratitude properly, I’d like to continue the campaign of last week. Fidelizer and Nimitra customers will receive $100 refund discount for Nimitra and $50 refund discount for Nikola as thanks to all customers supporting us.

Thank you,
Keetakawee
