Optimize MQA sound quality for Tidal Masters Guide

After Tidal launch Tidal Master update that works only on desktop applications right now, there’s a few Fidelizer users asking about getting the best sound with Tidal Master so I think it’s good idea to write up step-by-step guide here.

STEP 1: Get Tidal for Windows app

Download most recent version of Tidal for Windows then sign up or login with your account.

STEP 2: Setup Streaming audio for best sound quality

Click on “Streaming” tab, you’ll see Streaming dialog with Quality and Sound Output options. Select “HiFi / Master” for Quality and audio output device of your choice. Don’t choose “System Default” because it doesn’t support exclusive mode.

You’ll notice settings icon when you move your cursor to audio output item. Click on that icon and select all options there. If your audio output doesn’t support MQA, uncheck “Passthrough MQA” option so Tidal will perform software decoding of MQA instead.

STEP 3: Use Fidelizer with Tidal

After setting up Tidal software, you can improve Windows sound quality further with Fidelizer software. You can run Fidelizer, click “Fidelize” button, choose “Yes” to launch music player application after optimizations, and select Tidal shortcut icon on Desktop.

If you’re using upgraded version, you can choose “Network Player” audio profile for better streaming audio performance.

And now you’re ready to play music with best sound quality from Tidal Masters. If you want to use Tidal Masters with JPLAY, I recommend ASIO Bridge software to allow bridging audio output with JPLAY ASIO driver.

Added fidelizer.audio domain for mobile access

When I tried to open Fidelizer website on my friend’s mobile, I found typing fidelizer-audio.com is quite long and inconvenient to type and ended up using Fidelizer as search keyword to access instead. So, I registered fidelizer.audio as mirror domain for easier to type on mobile.

If you want to share Fidelizer with your friend with shorter URL, you can use fidelizer.audio domain for easier access from now on. 🙂

Fidelizer in Athens Highend Show 2016 Report

Athens Highend Show went well last week. Philippe sent me his pictures few days ago and also shared his exciting story below.

Fidelizer in Athens Highend Show 2016 - 1

A lot of enthusiastic people. The ifi sales guys were saying this show is way better than anything they have in the UK. The dac and the R3 went well.

On the software side we had a shout out with the best analog gear in the world and they thought they would humiliate us and they were extremely impressed: the told us that it was one of the finest digital gear they had heard and when the total cost of the source including PC was 2000 euros compared with a 40000 turntable + phono stage. Well, what an optimized pc+good usb cleaning+mushichi player could do especially at this price.

We [including Fidelizer] are pioneers: in the high end community the fact that a pc can be a better source for audio than  all this expensive hardware has not yet sank into the mentalities a lot of didactic work is needed.

I think if I can build a presence in the finest audio shop [having their pc setup and optimized with banners ] will help a lot.

The latter part sounds like a good idea to me if you ask me. I wonder how to make audiophiles in general accept new computer-based solutions as mainstream. If mainstream audiophiles were like 90s, I’m sure a lot of famous computer engineers will be hired to build highend music servers, found his own companies and sell off later to China by now. 😀
