Updated PerfectDynamics 2.0 Sound Optimizations for Fiio X5iii

Fidelizer - PerfectDynamics Sound Optimizations 2.0
For new users, please read about PerfectDynamics 2.0 Sound Optimizations first for new improvements with Fidelizer ROMs.

After launching PerfectDynamics for iBasso DX200 which is my reference unit, now it’s time for the most popular DAP Fiio X5iii to receive PerfectDynamics 2.0 Sound Optimizations update.

Since X5iii has Lollipop 5.1.1 ROM, it doesn’t have CPU Set concept which was introduced in Marshmallow 6 ROM, I made other adjustments to help instead. Background tasks will gain more CPU share but real time process will be minimized for quad core. 🙂

There’s a lot of improvements for Advanced ROM and I also added Enhanced ROM into collection too. Please read Portable Products for more details including Fidelizer Mod project with 3 modification levels. Happy listening. 🙂

Fidelizer 8.3 released – Improved hardware key’s compatibility on dual boot and Windows Update, AudiophileRenderer and JPLAY Femto support, and 32-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper fix

Fidelizer Pro

Hello everyone. After releasing version 8.2, I spent most of my time fixing the remaining issues with fidelizer.key generation algorithm. I’m truly sorry for the trouble all these times but version 8.3 will have full coverage of fidelizer key data fixes now.

In this release, the older keys you got before will still work as long as associated hardware is still present. This will fix issues with Windows Update and different hardware device order issues on dual boot for good.

While fixing the key generation algorithm, I also realized the root cause with Windows Server in core mode. The reason is fidelizer as a shell may run before important services sometimes and I made sure they’ll run properly now.

I also fixed 32-core processor bug issue that happen after releasing version 8.2 too. This issue has been fixed internally for a long while because it breaks functionality and I’m glad to see it’s officially addressed and resolved in 8.3.

Changelog for version 8.3

Upgrade: Fidelizer Upgrade Program

Fidelizer Plus/Pro users should be received a mail about update and download link by now. If you somehow didn’t receive an update notification as I received some delivery failure message too, please contact me for an update with your customer data to verify.

Last month I found a rare gem called Audiophile uPNP Renderer. It’s true audiophile uPNP streaming platform playing only FLAC/WAV/AIFF format. It sounds really good for free software. Sadly, it doesn’t support DSD and ASIO but you can mix with VST too.

I also added new applications into compatibility list including new JPLAY Femto release and some new apps requested from clients. Windows 10 updates that have more processes related to audio performance will be handled properly now too. 🙂

Extreme dual PC computer audio setup shootout between AudioLinux and Windows Server 2019

I’ve been exchanging ideas about computer audio improvements with my pals for a long while and recent he started doing some very serious shootout between the best of Linux today “AudioLinux” and “Windows Server 2019” with software optimizations.

I’ve been checking out in forums recently and it seems there’s only good thing about one thing and the another but never see anyone posting about direct competition. So I asked him if I can share his test results in website and he said it’s OK.

The test was performed with AudioLinux with the double PC. Server with Xeon optimized with Roon Server and music on NAS and the renderer on Celeron with Roon Bridge, both started by pen drive and then put in ram without disks in headless extreme mode.

Good sound tonally correct, but lacking body and less broad and deep, thin sound and long tiring, compared to my current type configuration based on a single PC with Windows Server 2019 core with the new JPLAY 7 and Fidelizer 8.2, NAS with MinimServer commanded by mConnect.

Sound warmer round, analog with more body and that projects you more in the sound event, in short, the sound of Linux I do not like. Put Linux both in ram has not had positive effects the sound of Linux is always exile, lack of harmonics compared to Windows.

This is a serious shootout in extreme dual PC setup environment. AudioLinux is only $50 and should do pretty well for its price. I hope the future of Linux-based OS will be bright for those who don’t mind paying for products and services in near future. 🙂

PerfectDynamics Sound Optimizations 2.0

Aside from being the first stable Oreo ROM in market, DX200 is also the first device to receive PerfectDynamics Sound Optimizations 2.0 update. I was working on a new breakthrough in Nimitra firmware 3.0 update so I decided to release PerfectDynamics 2.0 later with new improvements as below.

System stability improvements

Back in older days, system optimizations started from raising priority, reducing buffer and other optimizations that can deliver better purist performance. With new changes in this release, it also improve system stability too.

Sound optimizations re-calibrated based on Nimitra firmware 3.0 update

I re-calibrated PerfectDynamics optimizations again to deliver real sound performance like no Linux audiophile server could ever archive before based on Nimitra firmware 3.0 update. You can feel uncompressed dynamics improving micro details and imaging with great musicality and liquidity.

Fidelizer’s Core Isolation optimizations on Linux-based platform

The first PerfectDynamics ROM was released in October 2017 before Fidelizer 8. After releasing Fidelizer 8, I tried to implement its core isolation principles to Purist ROM and this is the first ROM with Fidelizer’s core isolation applied.

CPU Sets - Oreo

CPU Sets - Fidelizer

With Fidelizer’s core isolation optimizations applied in Purist ROM, the result was truly magical. It sounds like all instruments used to perform in small room and now they’re performing in great hall that each instrument can have its own optimal space.

PerfectDynamics 2.0 features are exclusively available for Fidelizer Enhanced / Advanced ROM only. Free Purist ROM version has only generic optimizations that can safely apply to all devices so it won’t have PerfectDynamics Sound Optimizations.

If you like improvements in Purist ROM, you may upgrade to Enhanced / Advanced ROM for even better sound. Please read Portable Products for more details including iBasso DX200 Fidelizer Mod project with 3 modification levels and happy listening. 🙂

iBasso DX120 Purist ROM version 2.2.42 re-released!

Fidelizer - DX120

After DX120 Purist ROM was released for a while, I received one report from free Purist ROM user that he couldn’t flash Purist ROM and get it working. So today I went to my friend’s store and bought a new DX120 DAP to test. I opened it and then flash Purist ROM immediately and it worked fine. 🙂

-Based on firmware version 2.2.42
-build.prop tweaks for better video and storage performance and improve battery life
-Audio engine optimized for only audio playback (EQ/Gaplass features work)
-Bundled audio effects removed but keep main engine

Download: iBasso DX120 Purist ROM

Installation Guide

1. Extract update.img from archive and copy to root directory of micro SD card and put in DX120 slot
2. Open device Settings > Advanced > System Update
3. Wait for device to finish flashing
4. After flashing is completed, you should see Fidelizer Purist ROM boot animation indicating successful update

I said re-released because this release contains no changes but I decided to rebuild all packages and tested with real DX120 device again just to be sure. I also did some listening tests and I prefer “Slow” filter with “Original” sound mode personally.

There’s a lot of improvements for Advanced ROM and I also added Enhanced ROM into collection too. Please read Portable Products for more details including Fidelizer Mod project with 3 modification levels. Happy listening. 🙂
