Fidelizer - PerfectDynamics Sound Optimizations

 

PerfectDynamics technology is device-specific optimizations for Enhanced / Advanced ROM introduced on 1st October 2017. In upcoming Munich 2018 AV Show, I’ll introduce PerfectDynamics 2.0 with iBasso DX200 and Fiio X5iii device.

During development of PerfectDynamics’ initial version, iBasso DX200 and Fiio X5iii didn’t get the better sounding version of firmware and they later improved in over time. After I tried DX150 2.9 firmware port on DX200, I feel it’s ready to take this to the next level.

Having good sounding firmware to optimize is very important because sometimes you can’t be sure whether this optimization will really improve over all performance or just compesate the flaw with firmware itself. Even now I’m still not sure that I can finish it before the show lol.

 

PerfectDynamics 2.0 Goals:

-Fix random crash and reboot in some scenarios (90% – Fixed stability issues with boot image optimizations)
-Decay, depth and imaging will be important than clarity and separation (60% – Tuning I/O optimizations)
-Transient dynamics will have improved linearity which will also reduce digital glare effect (40% – Tuning PerfectDynamics specific optimizations)
-Full sound reproduction will take higher priority than making audio sounding pure (40% – Tuning audio optimizations)

 

If I can archive all that, PerfectDynamics 2.0 will make Linux based audio performance becoming closer to Fidelizer’s optimizations in Windows. I’ll start working today on iBasso DX200 first and I hope to master PerfectDynamics 2.0 before the show. 🙂

I received information about Fiio launching big update for Fiio X5ii, X7 and X7ii at the same time. As I’ve been busy with many projects including Fidelizer 8 updates so I can release only one at time and I’ll start with the most popular Fiio X5iii first. 🙂

After launching firmware updates for a while, I realized most customers are returning users so wiping data again won’t be necessary anymore. I also tuned PerfectDynamics on Enhanced / Advanced ROM to reduce bright sound with stock hardware on some headphones.

-Based on firmware version 1.2.0
-Deodexed
-Apollo – Fidelity Edition from https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/apollo-music-player-fidelity-edition-t3038629 included
-build.prop tweaks for better video and storage performance and improve battery life
-bundled audio effects removed but keep main engine (Poweramp works now)

Installation Guide

1. Download Firmware Upgrade Tool from https://www.dropbox.com/s/bxlfgb1coyzxrws/
2. Turn off Fiio X5iii
3. Connect X5iii with USB connection to computer while holding previous track button
4. Install RK USB driver included in Firmware Upgrade Tool and replace update.img image with ones from Fidelizer.
5. Open X5III Firmware Upgrade Tool.exe and flash ROM according to instructions provided in Instructions of How to Use the X5 3rd gen Firwmare Upgrade Tool.pdf

Hi Keetakawee – hope all is well your end.

I just wanted to drop you a quick email to thank you for the incredible difference the Advanced Purist ROM has made when compared to the vanilla FiiO X5iii. I was a bit sceptical at first, but seeing what you’ve done technically (pushing user mode to root, removing unnecessary services, modding the codecs etc) I’m truly impressed. Well done!

Thanks again for the good work so far; am really enjoying your mods.

iBasso DX200 Purist ROM version 2.8.198 V2 released!

DX200 - Purist ROM

 

Hello everyone. I noticed iBasso also updated base factory image to version 2.1 on another day so I think it should be a good idea to repack the ROMs with the new base factory image aside boot/kernel/system image files.

This probably brings no significant improvements but changing base factory image from version 1.3 to 2.1 should some what improve compatibility. I also tuned PerfectDynamics a little to improve ROM’s reliability too.

 

-Based on firmware version 2.8.198
-Play Store added
-Apollo – Fidelity Edition from https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/apollo-music-player-fidelity-edition-t3038629 included
-Revamped MangoPlayer UI with improved user experience
-build.prop tweaks for better video and storage performance and improve battery life
-Audio engine optimized for only audio playback (EQ/Gaplass features work)
-Bundled audio effects removed but keep main engine (Poweramp works now)

1. Download Factory Tool provided by Paul http://www.ibasso.com/uploadfiles/download/FactoryTool_v1.39_DX200.zip
2. Turn off DX200
3. Connect DX200 with USB connection to computer while holding play button switch
4. Install Rockchip USB driver included in FactoryTool
5. Open FactoryTool.exe and flash ROM according to instructions provided in DX200 batch tool instruction.doc
