Hi guys. Now I’ve finished the last DAP in Fiio X series with PerfectDynamics 3.0 update. Now I can focus updating on iBasso and other DAPs soon. 🙂

Installation Guide

1. Download X7 Firmware Upgrade Tool
2. Turn off Fiio X7
3. Connect X7 with USB connection to computer while holding volume up button
4. Install RK USB driver included in Firmware Upgrade Tool and replace update.img image with Fidelizer Purist ROM version
5. Open X7 Firmware Upgrade Tool.exe and press the green button in middle right flash the ROM

Fiio - M15 Ultimate Mod

 

Hi guys. Today we have two big news, good news and bad news. The reason Fidelizer Mod can offer very cost effective upgrade starting from $99.95 USD mod wasn’t because of being modded from developing country only but also having technician who doesn’t want to charge much.

Normally technician will charge modding fee that will cover risks of damaging device and after-sale services. Since I told him I’ll be responsible for everything else so he can mod without worry, he decided not to charge me much. I told him he could raise the price but he hates overcharging clients.

I too hate overcharging clients so I launched Fidelizer Mod with reasonably priced based on my costs. And today that will be changed. Technician told me that he will no longer mod DAP, ever. The reason is he spent many days trying to fix issues that wasn’t caused by modding in Sony WM1A.

 

This isn’t the first time we have issues with modding. Sometimes we have one defective capacitor but we didn’t have time to find which one in over 30 caps caused it and decided to replace all caps instead. That’s one of reason why Fidelizer Ultimate Mod is no longer available.

But since Covid-19 outbreak, a lot of people stopped sending him devices for few months and they all are coming to him. He can’t be responsible with healthy DAPs getting issues during modification anymore.

Since I used to be in state of not having enough manpower to provide local mods and decided to stop sharing 2 years ago, I can see where he’s coming from. There was time I told my clients that I was sacrificing like over $30k projects for affordable mods I barely profit with high risks.

 

Fortunately he still accept other devices that aren’t DAP so Chord products won’t get affected for pricing and recipe. I will add Masterpiece Mod level on all Chord products soon after finalizing recipe so stay tuned.

As for good news, Fidelizer Mod on DAP is still possible but it’ll be done with another technician who’ll charge with standard rate so modding price will be increased so I can’t offer Reference Mod level anymore. But now you can mod new devices including new flagship DAPs now.

 

Well, I somehow expected this to happen sooner or later and that’s why I haven’t added any new device for so long. For clients who already ordered DX220 with AMP8/9 and iRiver AK240, you still get the same deal done by same old technician. He promised me to work on the last two units.

Since technician will focus more on his main jobs and also my main projects like EtherStream that he already modified almost 200 units, I’ll leverage Fidelizer Mod projects to another technician. He also modded Fiio M15 and some others too. I’ll launch more devices soon after things calm down.

I’m very thankful for everyone’s support in this hobby I’m enjoying myself with. I hope you guys will understand that this isn’t an attempt to raise the price for more profit. Fidelizer is a place to share my audiophile hobbies and it will always be with affordable products and free stuff I can share with. 🙂

iBasso released new DX160 ROM V1.06.177 recently and here’s new Fidelizer Purist ROM version with PerfectDynamics 3.0 update and Google Play Store applied. 🙂

Installation Guide

1. Install Rockchip USB driver included in iBasso DX220Max Upgrade Tool and make sure it shows ‘Found One ADB device’ in AndroidTool software
2. Extract OTA ROM from Official Oreo ROM firmware to DX160’s internal storage and flash from Settings > System > Updater > Local storage
3. After successfully flashing official ROM, go to Settings > System > About tablet and tap “Build number” for 7 times to enable “Developer options”
4. Tap back arrow to enter “Developer options”, enable “USB debugging”, and press OK
5. Connect DX160 to computer with USB connection in Android mode again and press OK to allow USB debugging
6. Download Disable Verity package and run disable_verity.bat file to disable verity and restart (Authorize USB debugging on device and run again)
7. After DX160 boots up properly with Verity disabled, run reset_loader.bat file so you can enter loader mode
8. Open AndroidTool, click on “Upgrade Firmware” tab, click on Firmware button and select update.img extracted from Purist ROM then click Upgrade

EtherStream Network Switch review on HiFi Knights by Dawid Grzyb

Actually, this review was published for a while but I’ve been so busy with delivering EtherStream Network Switch and many other products so I forgot to publish this until now. I’m so sorry and also very thankful for you guys’ continuous support.

This review is written by Dawid Grzyb and is the first Fidelizer product review in HiFi Knights. It’s thoroughly investigated review with every nook inside examined and shown. Not that I mind since I also showed and explained what I did for personal use.

I like how he compare EtherStream to his reference USB reclocker and galvanic isolation components and see that he can find similar improvements on network at more affordable approach as below.

Positive Feedback

The micro iUSB3.0 reclocker and EtherStream were quite alike voiced to my ears. The former’s action was more audible, but as previously not by a lot. Once again I thought that better LAN cables could even things out a fair bit, but today’s skirmishes with my USB boxes weren’t important per se as one doesn’t replace the other. Their action stacks. These investigations were conducted mainly to ease my own curiosity, but also to find out whether Keetakawee’s box could keep up with two fine examples of iFi audio’s USB engineering and remain just as relevant elsewhere. If today’s put up against USB sorters strikes you as odd, all fundamentally shave excess noise and make music more liquid, that’s their common ground. That’s why the main disparity was in their different junctures of my setup, not audible job. Even handicapped by stock LAN cables and away from streaming services, Fidelizer’s deck held its ground very well all things considered. What this switch was able to accomplish in my room, was already not too shabby for its coin and sub-optimal conditions. Something tells me that supported by better LAN cables, PSU, and used with streaming services, it would go faster, bigger and bolder, but that’s a story for another time. What’s important now is EtherStream’s audibly potent and beneficial input, with no strings attached. Yes, please.

I didn’t send switch with Nikola linear power supply so reviewer can review network switch on its own merits but you can upgrade linear power supply for better sound quality too. You can read his full review and see his journey about network improvements for more details.
